PebblePad has always been designed to meet the needs of the widest possible range of users including those who may require assistance. To that end PebblePad has been designed to use assistive technologies and to support alternative approaches to system use over a standard keyboard and mouse approach.
WCAG 2.0 guidelines are integral to PebblePad's development processes.
From the outset the system has been built to underpin WCAG 2.0's four principles of accessibility:
- Perceivable - Information presented in PebblePad is perceivable to users through multiple sensory channels by inbuilt support for assistive technologies such as screen readers. Audio only content such as help videos contain text based captions.
- Operable - All user interface components and navigation elements can be accessed using only the keyboard allowing all users to perform all required actions.
- Understandable - We strive to make PebblePad an intuitive system for all users through our clean and simple approach to interface and workflow design. Our contextual help system provides small amounts of guidance where it is needed.
- Robust - We test PebblePad's compatibility with assistive technologies as a routine part of our development life cycle ensuring that as technology evolves our support remains consistent.
We conform to all level A WCAG 2.0 criteria and are incrementally working towards full AA compliance in 2018. Our commitment to providing the best possible accessibility support is through an ongoing process of improvement and refinement, always adhering to the most current publication of the WCAG 2.0 guidelines.
We actively work with many of our customers to enhance PebblePad's usability and WCAG 2.0 specific improvements feature in every major system update.
