The guiding principle of the PebblePad system is to promote reflective practice. The system supports this reflection through the use of templates which prompt users to record and reflect upon their activities. 

Any item a user creates can be shared with others with a range of permissions including comment. This is designed to support an individual and social constructivist process. This works at every level in the system from individual item sharing through to communication tools supporting peer review and feedback, threaded discussions and collaborative working.
