The theme of this year’s conference is Scaling-up, reflecting the growing maturity of practice with portfolios, portfolio-inspired learning and teaching, and the platforms that support these approaches. Organisations are also identifying a growing list of challenges to which technologies like ours seem to provide an effective answer.
We are seeking submissions that talk to the transition from small scale, often single-point use of PebblePad to uses which are more fully-integrated into the wider learning experience. We are particularly interested in showcasing and celebrating successful program-wide or institution-wide projects. Like all previous ‘Bashes there will be a strong focus on pedagogy, especially on learning and assessment design. But it is impossible to really scale up without senior stakeholder involvement, strategic planning, good project management, and having carefully thought through integrations with other institutional systems – so we would like to include presentations which consider ideas, challenges and successes from these perspectives.

The Conference Program Committee is inviting full refereed papers and abstracts for the ACEN 2018 Conference ‘WIL: Creating Connections, Building Futures’.
Interested researchers, academics, practitioners and industry partners are invited to submit papers, abstracts and posters for the Conference. Papers that involve joint authorship with students, industry and community partners are encouraged. Early career researchers and research students are also encouraged to contribute papers.

The Conference Director, Prof James Wilkinson of Harvard University, is now calling for presentation proposals on the following sub-themes:
• Adapting to new learning spaces—resistance and remedies
• Using online-blended teaching strategies for student learning
• Assessment in face-to-face, online, and blended environments
• Promise and pitfalls of Learning Analytics
• Faculty development for teaching beyond the classroom
• Recent research on learning in new spaces
The deadline for proposal submission is Friday, February 9, 2018.
For today’s students, learning no longer takes place in the classroom alone. MOOCs, student internships, blended learning, and collaborative research with faculty in laboratories or in the field have all expanded the educational setting far beyond the traditional lecture hall or seminar room. At the same time, the teaching best suited to these new venues remains a subject of discussion and even disagreement. Our 2018 conference offers an opportunity to explore the varieties of instruction best suited to these new learning spaces, while at the same time addressing problems they may entail.
The deadline for proposal submission is Friday, February 9, 2018. Presenters will be notified of our decision on or before March 9th 2018.
